I
founded La Femme Royale to help women of all sizes learn that fashion, beauty
and style have not as much to do with shape or size, as they have to do
with confidence, flair and audacity. As women, we are taught to blend in,
to not offend others by flaunting our differences, to self deprecate.
I believe that this is counter productive to a happy,
fulfilling life. Every woman is different - we can't change this, so why
should we apologize for it? Self-improvement is an admirable thing, but
it's a lifelong journey, not a goal to be reached tomorrow, or an excuse
to not live the life you have today.
Our
society equates thinness with physical health and beauty. This is a mistake.
The growing number of young women with eating disorders are a testament
to this fallacy. Pop culture and media largely ignore the fact that to
be truly healthy we must attend to not only our physical health but also
our emotional, mental and spiritual well-being.
I belive that every woman has the right and ability to
feel comfortable in her own skin, whether the label in her jeans says
size 6 or size 26.
